Abstract
Investigations of the quantum-dynamical processes for N=1 atom strongly coupled to the intracavity field of a high-finesse optical cavity are reported. Our experiments have achieved the exceptional circumstance of strong coupling for which the internal coupling coefficient gtbat characterizes reversible coherent evolution is larger than the external dissipative rates (γ, k) that specify irreversible damping by way of atomic spontaneous emission and cavity loss.
