Abstract

The evolution of coherence in the presence of refraction has been studied in the last few years mainly in connection with x-ray lasers.1-4 The studies were based on ray tracing,1 mode analysis,2,3 and a combined Monte Carlo-wave numerical code.4 Independently of these subjects. Wolf has shown that, in general, the spectrum of radiation changes upon propagation.5 His analysis focused on propagation in free space. In another work. Wolf introduced a new method for mode expansion of the coherence function.6
