Abstract

Coherent multiple scattering of electromagnetic waves from inhomogeneous media is of interest as evidenced by recent reports of Anderson localization with microwave photons and photonic band gaps for optical photons. The cone of backscattered light from inhomogeneous dielectric media is one of the most striking signatures of constructive interference of multiply scattered light waves.
