Abstract
We have solved Schrödinger’s equation numerically to obtain the time-dependent wave functions for an electron in a one-dimensional short-range potential (characteristic of a model negative ion) under the influence of a very intense laser field. We compare the peaks in the electron energy spectrum for above-threshold photodetachment with the corresponding harmonic peaks in the coherently-scattered-light spectrum. We confirm the production of high-order harmonics.
