Abstract

Doppler-free optical pumping using two1 and three2 noncollinear pumps and a probe beam all originating from a narrow linewidth tunable cw laser has been demonstrated in metastable neon by Pinard, Julien, and Laloe.1,2 These authors refer to the close relation between this experiment and equivalent ones that can be done in saturated absorption.
