Efficient generation of a degenerate four-wave mixing signal from a four level N-type atomic system

Abstract

We study how the four-wave mixing process can be enhanced in a N-type atomic system by using the Electromagnetically Induced Transparency. We find that the generated signal propagates with a slow velocity due to FWM process.
