Abstract
Nanowires are considered as building blocks for the next generation electronics and photonics. I will discuss the growth of III-V semiconductor nanowires and their radial heterostructures and how to improve the optical properties of these nanowires. I will present results on the role of surface passivation, plasmonics and doping in improving the quantum efficiency of the nanowires. I will discuss nanowire lasers and THz detectors and present future prospects for semiconductor nanowires.
