Abstract

Since its establishment at 1985, MIT Laser Biomedical Research Center has pioneered and advanced spectroscopic tissue diagnosis. By analyzing tissue intrinsic spectroscopic signals from diffuse reflectance, intrinsic fluorescence and Raman spectroscopy, disease states of tissue can be determined. Spectroscopic tissue diagnosis was successfully applied to various cancer diagnosis. At the same time, there has been effort to implement the noninvasive blood glucose monitoring based on NIR Raman spectroscopy. In this presentation, latest progresses on these topics will be discussed.
