Abstract

The current advancement in technology has led the use of optical bio-sensing units into label free biosensing by applying the surface plasmon polaritons. This has become a standard and is fairly successful on the commercial basis. These systems are heavy making them less viable at every place of use. To overcome these drawbacks, the Plasmonic crystals and the microfluidics integration in the field bio-sensing would offers a multi-step validation of results and also provide real-time detection and imaging. The paper describes the generic steps to rapid design and develop the low cost biosensor using the open source MEEP and other software tools. It helps in rapid development of ultra-sensitive, fast, portable device that can be deployed to point-of-care diagnostics.
