Phase-sensitive Amplification Using Coherent Population Oscillations in Metastable Helium

Abstract

We demonstrate phase-sensitive amplification based on coherent population oscillations in metastable helium with a maximum gain of nearly 6. The measured minimum gain corresponds to its ideal value, proving that we have a perfect squeezer.
