Abstract

Sensing characteristics of two coupled ridge waveguides with metal under-cladding has been investigated showing that an ultrahigh positive (18.4 μm/RIU) to negative (−4.1 μm/RIU) sensitivity can be achieved by varying the waveguide separation.
