Detection of Partial Discharges in Power Transformers using Fiber Bragg Gratings

Abstract

We present a fiber Bragg grating based scheme for sensing partial discharges in power transformers. The FBG sensor is implemented to detect changes in temperature for sensing corona breakdown in a controlled test bed.
