Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy Infrared Emission from Inorganic and Organic Substances

Abstract

The mid-infrared emission from a laser-induced-breakdown process between 2 to 5.75 μm was probed for the first time. Emission features from oxygenated carbon-containing breakdown fragments and from alkali metal-containing breakdown fragments have been successfully identified.
