Abstract
Fusion of data from multiple sensor types can aid airborne reconnaissance by reducing the amount of raw sensor data that human analysts must review, e.g., by identifying target areas for selected high-resolution imaging. An airborne reconnaissance system flying on a P-3 aircraft that employs multiple sensors, including high-resolution visible and infrared cameras, hyperspectral instruments, and synthetic aperture radar is described. The system includes data processing and display capabilities, high-bandwidth transmission of the data to the ground, and network connectivity for command and control and for data dissemination.
