New Opportunities for PV Optics Using Quantum Dots, Nanowires, and Photonic Crystals

Abstract

Metal and dielectric nanostructures have shown great potential to improve photovoltaic efficiencies. Here, I present an alternative approach using quantum dots, nanowires, and photonic crystals as optical components with superior scattering, trapping, and concentrating abilities.
