Abstract

Generation of time subharmonic in two-wave mixing experiment in CdTe:Ge with low frequency ac electric field and auxiliary incoherent illumination is reported. The oscillation of beam intensity occurs when the period of ac field is longer than the response time of the crystal. The time frequency spectrum of the oscillation reveals harmonics and subharmonic of ac-field frequency f. We show that the amplitudes of subharmonic f/2 and 3f/2 depend on the balance between electron and hole generation controlled in our experiments by auxiliary light.
