Abstract

Most of the patients with gastric cancer who have undergone surgery are diagnosed in locally advanced stages. Middle and late stage surgery undoubtedly aggravates medical costs, patient distress, and high recurrence rates. Development of early diagnostic method for gastric cancer is therefore of great demand. Photoacoustic imaging(PAT) is widely used in cancer diagnose which based on the difference optical absorption of biological tissue and use the ultrasound as agent. In this paper, we used PAT to quantify the difference in optical absorption coefficient between gastric cancer and normal gastric tissue, and verify the experiment results by inverse Monte Carlo simulation. We believe that this method is particularly useful to provide the accurate absorption coefficient for diagnosing the gastric cancer.
