Abstract

ZnO nanowires with good field emission properties were prepared by a non-catalyst thermal oxidization method. The study of temperature dependent field emission shows that the defects play an important role in the field emission process. Addressable field emitter arrays using ZnO nanowires were fabricated and applied in a display device. Good gate-controlled characteristics and the display of video images are realized. The results demonstrate that feasibility of large area ZnO nanowire field emitter arrays.
