One Beam Recording in Lithium Niobate Using White Light

Abstract

We proposed a way to record images in a LiNbO3 crystal with a single white light source. The recording is achieved by producing phase variation in photorefractive crystals via photorefractive effect and photovoltaic effect. Because this method is not an interference technique, this recording can be achieved using incoherent light as well as unpolarized light. Furthermore, no speckle grating and fanning grating is induced in the crystal during recording or reading processes, which reduces the noise light due to fanning.
