Abstract
In this paper, diarylethene derivative, 1, 2-bis (2-methyl-5-formyl)-3-thienyl)-per fluorocyclopentene (1a) was synthesized. The maximal UV-Visible absorption of amorphous PMMA film is 620nm. The PMMA film of 10μm thickness of diarylethene was fabricated by spin-coating method. The reflective index modulations (An) between the open- and close-ring forms were detected to be 2.08⨉10-3. On the PMMA films, ten gratings of hologram are recorded in one volume by angle multiplexing. The applicable potential of these diarylethene derivatives for volume holographic storage is verified. The change of refractive indices between two isomers makes this new class of materials promising to be applied to other photorefractive effects.
