Abstract

The wavelength dependence of initially scattered light seeding the phenomenon of photo-induced light scattering is determined in Cerium doped Strontium-Barium-Niobate. A quadratic dependence of the scattering intensities on the electrooptic coefficient is found and is explained by the diffraction of the pump beam at refractive-index anomalies in the crystal bulk. The role of randomly distributed internal electric fields as origin of the refractive-index anomalies is discussed.
