Abstract

We present the insertion of a Double Phase Conjugate Mirror (DPCM) in a Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (FOG). This double phase conjugate mirror is inserted in the middle of the fiber coil and allows the replacement of the high cost polarization maintaining singlemode fibers, by normal single or multimode fibers. The distortion introduced by these fibers are compensated by the phase conjugation. The DPCM reconstructs the wavefront and allows a maximum coupling in the single mode coupler of the FOG, without losing the Sagnac phase shift. We present results concerning the reciprocity and the performances of the DPCM and a first demonstration of the insertion of the DPCM in the FOG.
