Abstract

This presentation will describe some of the recent work in our group at the interface of optics and microfluidics, the development of new techniques at this interface, and application of these techniques towards chemical and biological problems. Specifically, this presentation will encompass three parts: (1) Optical manipulation of single cells and microparticles [1–3], (2) Optical manipulation of droplets for biological applications [4–7], and (3) The use of microfluidics to create tunable optical elements [8].
