Characterization of Light Pipe Optical Loss for Concentrating Solar Applications

Abstract

Light pipes can enable new solar concentrators for PV and thermal systems, but achieving low optical losses is a critical prerequisite. A characterization technique is demonstrated for incidence-angle-resolved transmission for quantifying loss mechanisms.
