Efficiency enhancement calculations of solar cells with quantum tripling layer and the discovery of a quantum tripling phosphor

Abstract

Calculations show that a quantum tripling layer, which emits three photons for each photon absorbed, could greatly enhance germanium solar cell efficiency. Quantum tripling was observed in the BaLa2-xTmxZnO5 phosphor.
