Abstract

We developed a method to quantify and visualize chromophore concentrations and light scattering property of living tissues with a digital color camera. In the method, Monte Carlo simulation for light transport in tissues is used to specify a relation among the RGB-values and chromophore concentrations and the wavelength-dependences of scattering spectra for biological tissues. Experiments with small animals demonstrated the ability of the method to evaluate physiology and viability of in vivo living tissues.
