Abstract
Octahedral Au nanoparticles (NPs), prepared via polyol process, were used as a core for the preparation of Au-core/Pt-shell (Au@Pt) NPs. The deposition of Pt shell layer was carried out by under-potential deposition of Cu monolayer, followed by the galvanic replacement of Cu by Pt. The visible-light irradiation to Au@Pt NPs enlarged a cathodic current for oxygen reduction reaction, suggesting that the electrocatalytic activity of Pt layer was enhanced by the excitation of localized surface plasmon resonance of octahedral Au-core.
