Image quality evaluation of 3D display based on binary and gray-scale phase modulation by two iterative optimization methods with dummy area

Abstract

The improvement of image quality is evaluated in three-dimensional (3D) display systems based on phase modulation. In the optimization methods of phase-mode modulation, binary and gray-scale modulations are evaluated when the dummy area is attached to the original image. Numerical results are presented. Experimental verification using binary phase modulation is also implemented.
