Abstract

We demonstrate a cascade of 10 WDM OXCs at 10 Gbit/s with an architecture based on wavelength converters for internal routing and wavelength-slot-interchanging. The required number of internal wavelengths equals the number of fiber inlets. We show that the polarisation insensitive OXC features an increased tolerance to interference cross-talk and is furthermore robust to input power variations of individual channels.
