Optically Activated Oxygen-Loaded Perfluorocarbon Nanoparticles for Ultrasound-guided Radiation Therapy

Abstract

Perfluoropentane nanodroplet ultrasound and photoacoustic contrast agents were loaded with indocyanine green dye and oxygen for image-guided delivery of oxygen to hypoxic cancer sites. Oxygen release was triggered through the use of photoacoustic laser pulses.
