Abstract
The Organic Materials Chemistry Program at AFOSR has been funding various organic materials for future Air Force applications. The program includes photonic polymers, electronic polymers, materials with controlled magnetic permeability and dielectric permittivity and other structural applications. The photonic area includes second order nonlinear optical materials and third order nonlinear optical materials, liquid crystals for IR applications and photorefractive polymers. Electronic properties of polymers are also covered in the area of solar cells and thin film transistors. New areas of controlling magnetic permeability and dielectric permittivity, including negative index materials, are also of interests. An overview of the program will be described.
