Each update features key topics in optics and photonics markets, including particular sectors or market segments, regional trends, and recent areas of focus for OIDA, and which are not available in another form in the industry today. The material is presented in a user-friendly format as a set of slides with accompanying narration.

Highlights in this OIDA Update:

o Optical communications market update. In this section we report useful market findings from two industry trade events, along with some perspectives on the new network service provider paradigm.
o Disposable optical biosensors. A review of the market for disposable biosensors using optical technology.
o Imaging for military and civilian surveillance. A review of the civilian security camera market, and a market estimate of the U.S. DOD acquisitions of imaging systems for its military needs. The worldwide market for high-value electro-optic (EO) sensors for military applications appears to be between $3B and $9B, with a "best guess at about $6 billion, assuming that the worldwide market is 2X the U.S. procurements.
