The mirrors used in the LIGO interferometers for the first-time detection of gravitational waves

Abstract

for the first time, a direct detection of gravitational wave occurred in the LIGO interferometers. These advanced detectors need large fused silica mirrors having optical and mechanical properties never reached up to now. This paper details the main achievements of these IBS coatings.
