Relation between group delay, energy storage and absorbed/scattered power in highly reflective dispersive dielectric mirror coatings

Abstract

We show that the reflection group delay as well as the absorption/scattering loss of a dielectric multilayer mirror is proportional to the energy stored in such 1D photonic bandgap (PBG) devices.
