Wave optical optimization of a high NA fiber tip TIR lens

Abstract

Using scalar diffraction theory and a genetic algorithm, a 0.99 NA fiber tip TIR lens is designed and optimized. Comparison with a geometrical design reveals an improvement in efficiency of more than 20 %.
