Evaluating Subsurface Damage with Quantum Dots

Abstract

Quantum dots were added to abrasive slurries used to finish glass samples. Confocal fluorescence microscopy detected quantum dots up to 7 µm beneath the surface, agreeing with depths of brittle fracture observed by etching.
