Analysis of the thermo-optical effect in a photonic liquid crystal fiber

Abstract

Analysis of light propagation in a photonic crystal fiber filled with liquid crystal is reported. Switching between index guiding and photonic band gap mechanisms induced by the thermo -optical effect is calculated and experimentally confirmed.
