Spring Coil Fiber Microbend Sensor with Well-Defined Characteristics

Abstract

A new type of microbend fiber-optic sensor using the spring coil is developed. The well-defined sensing characteristics and the optimum design for a strain sensor are demonstrated by the experiments and the simulation study.
