Bragg Grating Sensor Demodulation Scheme using a Semiconductor Laser for measuring Slamming Forces of Marine Vehicle Models

Abstract

A demodulation technique for Bragg gratings is described. The method is based on tracking the wavelength shifts by current tuning of a DFB laser using a feedback loop. The sensor is mounted in a load cell designed for measurements on dynamic wave loads of down-scaled ship models.
