Abstract

An optical fibre interferometer has been used to measure the electric wind speed close to the corona wires of an industrial electrostatic precipitator. These measurements are not possible using conventional flow-measuring techniques. The applicability of the technique to three-dimensional electric wind speed mapping is illustrated for a point-grid corona discharge.
