Abstract

We report recent progress on the demonstration of a distributed optical fibre sensing system using a frequency-derived technique based on the optical Kerr-effect. The system performance is examined in terms of signal-to-noise ratio, signal sensitivity and spatial resolution. Rapid measurements are possible with this method.
