Abstract

An active fiber ring resonator has very recently been proposed(1) that uses an Er-doped fiber amplifier(EDFA) to compensate for round-trip optical loss, thereby enhancing the finesse. The prototype linked several commercially-available optical components including two fiber-couplers by fusion splicing, and yet attained a better-than-100-kHz spectrum resolution.
