Abstract
Application area of fiber sensors is extremely wide. Therefore, many kinds of fibers with different characteristics are required. One of the examples is to use a short fiber just as a prove, and other example is to use a sophisticated polarization maintaining fiber for the precise measurement of small change of physical quantities by measuring the phase shift of the transmitted optical signal. Many optical fiber sensors with various ideas have been proposed on a world-wide scale in the last few years.
