Abstract

Electric current sensors based on the Faraday effect in single mode fibers have been studied for a number of years [1,2,3,4]. Such devices consist of one or more turns of fiber arranged in the form of a coil around the conductor. The plane of polarization of linearly polarized light propagating in the fiber is rotated in proportion to the current passing through the coil according to the expression
