Abstract
The optoelectronic industry is rapidly growing, and the use of leading-edge technologies such as lasers, optical fibers, and optical disks, has brought new products and services to factories, offices and homes. Production in Japanese optoelectronic industry has enjoyed an annual growth rate of 60% over the past 5 years, reaching 864 billion yen in 1985. Now, it has almost surpassed the 1,000 billion yen mark.
