Abstract

Fiber couplers based on single-mode fibers have high potential in single-mode fiber optical communication systems and fiber sensor systems. These fiber couplers are categorized into three types, conventional single-mode, polarization-maintaining and polarization splitting fiber couplers. Demand for these fiber couplers which have low excess loss, high accuracy coupling ratio and low price is increasing.
