Abstract
Low-loss tunable couplers1 have recently made possible realization of closed optical fiber loops of interest as sensing devices2 as well as signal processors.3,4 Currently, the performance of most of these systems is limited by propagation loss in the fiber. It was, therefore, interesting to attempt implementation of in-line optical amplification in a closed fiber loop to compensate for loss and enhance system performance.
