Wavefront-matching-method-designed six-mode-exchanger based on grating-like waveguide on silica-PLC platform

Abstract

A first six-mode exchanger based on one sidewall grating-like waveguide is successfully designed with the help of strong optimization algorithm. Fabricated device compensates for mode-dependent-loss caused by fiber-waveguide junctions, showing the proof-of-concept operation.
