Identification of Soft Failures in Optical Links Using Low Complexity Anomaly Detection

Abstract

We demonstrate one-class SVM employing readily available receiver side DSP features to detect soft link failures. The technique was able to detect inferior lasers, faulty ROADMs, OSNR degradation and inter-channel interference with <4% classification error.
