Coupled 7-Core Erbium Doped Fiber Amplifier and Its Characterization

Abstract

We demonstrate a coupled 7-core erbium-doped-fiber amplifier (EDFA) with the gain of higher than 15 dB and noise figure (NF) of 4.5 to 5.2 dB. The NF is lower than the previously reported coupled-multicore EDFA.
